“A child should be recognized as a human being when he is born – and then, too, I have some reservations. If a child is born blind or crippled, if a child is born deaf, dumb, and we cannot do anything … Just because life should not be destroyed, this child will have to suffer – because of your stupid idea – for seventy years, eighty years. Why create unnecessary suffering? If the parents are willing, the child should be put to eternal sleep. And there is no problem in it. Only the body goes back into its basic elements; the soul will fly into another womb. Nothing is destroyed. If you really love the child, you will not want him to live a seventy-year-long life in misery, suffering, sickness, old age. So even if a child is born, if he is not medically capable of enjoying life fully with all the senses, healthy, then it is better that he goes to eternal sleep and is born somewhere else with a better body.” Osho
Danke und Thank you for all your comments, Tony, Isa, Katja, Ahmad & Felice! Thank you for being so attentive. I’m with you on every thing you wrote and that is WHY I posted this, many in my timeline post Osho quotes and hold him to be a leader and some one to look up to. I wanted to make clear, that he should be questioned and you all did, thank you.
A friend posted something about him and this quote. I had not known that specific quote and thought, it might help to reflect, to see sides of his preaching which are dangerous, and you did. I am not promoting this idea, I feel the need to question it.
In the city I live in, there are still a lot of Sannyasins, followers of Osho. I even had a teacher, going to alternative healing school (Heilpraktikerschule), when doing my psycho kinesiology schooling. there are many institutions still connected to his ideas and philosophy here and around the world. And they all seem not to question these positions of his.
One evening there, I was having fun with my friends, they left, and since I felt so secure because of my naive thinking it was a humane place, stayed because dancing was just a lot of fun. Some dude, I hardly remember, blond, not very distinguishable, tried to get me to dance with him, he tried to hit on me. I was having a drink, my second one that night, he sat straight infront of me, in order to ask me to dance, he had to lean over, come close and that must have been the moment he slipped something into my drink.
But of course, I had not seen or suspected that. So I drank my drink. Luckily I have always been a very sensitive person, so very shortly after a few sips, I noticed I got very dizzy and sick to my stomach, so I ran to the bathroom. I managed to puke everything out but then just lost control of my body and just slid with my face down to the floor scraping the porcelain toilet.
I lay there, not able to move and knew, some one had spicked my drink. I lay there for a while, it was late and the place was about to close. So when some one came in from the bar crew, I took all my strength and asked for help, told that guy, I needed an ambulance and medical attention, that I was unable to move and was very scared. He would say something like “don’t drink so much, cope with it your self” and left.
The thing is, not only did the staff know me personally (!), there are regulations in Germany for a situation like that, they actually behaved in a illegal way, what they did, by denying me help is called “Unterlassene Hilfeleistung”. You can seriously go to court for that. Which I totally agree with.
At some point I talked to some one a bit more familiar to the Sannyasin ideology and asked them, why that would happen in such a place, and they replied, that it even might match the ideology perfectly, since there is also a preaching, that people should be left to their fait and to their karma and not helped out of it. That alone appalled me. Now, seeing this quote, it shines in such a different light for me. It is plain inhumane and horrid. And what I went threw at a Sannyasin place (!) is an output of such thought. Thanks for listening and for being attentive. We NEED to be attentive, so very much♥♥
